All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,
Greetings! It is hard to believe that we are in the final week of September already. Next week Susan and I will be traveling back to New Jersey for my 50th Class Reunion. I have been asked to conduct a brief memorial time for those in our class who have already passed away. We have a power point presentation of our classmates and I will have some devotional thoughts. Additionally I have been asked to preach at Good Shepherd Lutheran, Point Pleasant, the church I grew up in for 18 years. I am excited because I preached my first sermon at Good Shepherd when I was in 8th grade. This is definitely a God Moment because I really did not know that I would be preaching their until I randomly contacted the new Pastor and he invited me to preach. The Gospel reading for Sunday October 12th, 2025 is Luke 17:11-19, which is the cleansing of the 10 Lepers. And guess what! That is the very text that I preached on when I was in 8th grade and I preached for the first time. So I am excited. We are also going to see some family and long time friends while in NJ.
This Sunday afternoon representatives from our Circuit Pastor and a layperson will be meeting here at Trinity at 3:30PM to select a Lay Representative to attend the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Convention in the Summer of 2026. Additionally the new Mission Executive for the District will also be in attendance hopefully.
I have attached my sermon for Sunday. The topic is the 4th Article of the Augsburg Confession, “Justification”.
Have a great remainder of your week.
