All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,
Greetings!! I spoke with Rev. Olckers who informed me there has been no change in his sight. He cannot read anything. His surgery is not scheduled until Wednesday April 29th, 2026 at an eye specialist in Sarasota. Pastor Olckers did call me back and said that it will be impossible for him to attend service on April 26th, 2026. We will have to schedule it as he said “when he is able to drive again.” So I do not know when that may be in the future.
We are so blessed! We were able to dedicate the new Carilon yesterday thanks to some great generousity. Soon another individual is donating a new “Bad Boy ZT Elite” mower. You can look it up on the Rural King website to see what it looks like.
We are still determining the best direction to take with music when Susan is absent. Once the school year ends and Susan get a few spare moments things will be determined for the present as well as what is possible for the future.
Speaking of the future things may have to get creative as we look towards the future. Before the tragic events surrounding Pastor Olcker’s eyesight and his retirement, he would have been available to preach for me.
So I may have to get creative and call upon the Elders to assist more. I may video record my sermons like I have done last year and I will as Pastor McCoy if he would consider helping out.
Many have stated I should take more time off as it stands I am entitled to 5 weeks vacation and 2 weeks study leave, but I rarely took those when I was working full time. But now that I am at half salary people tell me I need to take more time off. The problem is that it is a big problem trying to get everything set for someone to come in for a Sunday from Preaching to leading liturgy to playing the music. When Susan and I are gone it is a major effort to make sure worship flows well on that given Sunday.
I have to go to do the invocation and the swearing in of Mrs. Colleen Charles as the Town of Lake Placid’s new mayor.
Have a great week.
