All Members, Winter Residents, Family and Friends,
Greeting on this last Monday of April! We are already over a ¼ of the way through 2026. Has anything changed in your life since the beginning of the year? Have the changes been good or have they been challenging? Some changes can be great other less great, but regardless change comes to all of us. In my sermon coming up for this Sunday, Jesus says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” We are going to explore this passage from John 14:1-4.
Rev. Olckers will have his right eye operated on this Thursday in Sarasota. Please pray for complete or partial restoration of his sight. Right now his legally blind and cannot see much of anything.
I hope you take the time to read the letter from President Bradshaw that was sent out earlier today.
In the poem “The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll. . .
“The time has come,’ the Walrus said, To talk of many things: Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —Of cabbages — and kings —And why the sea is boiling hot —And whether pigs have wings.”
So the time has come for Trinity Lutheran Church and Susan and myself to talk of many things, of retirement and things. I have asked the Church Council as indicated in President Bradshaw’s letter to all of you to begin the transition that needs to be done. Although there is NO time certain date as of this date a date will emerge within the next year or so.
I have stated to the church council that I would be willing to stay on to preach and teach only, while the leadership and the congregation work through the “Call Process.” When the time comes that a Pastor has agreed to come to Lake Placid, Susan and I will fade away into the shadows. It is not my intent in anyway to influence or interfere with the process of calling a new Pastor to serve all of you here at Trinity. Once you call him and install him, he is the new Pastor in residence here in Lake Placid. Susan and I will not be worshipping here or interfering in any way the ministry and opportunities here at Trinity unless ask by the new Pastor.
Yes you can start praying that God prepares the heart of an individual to come and take over the opportunities here at Trinity and in the community. Trinity is a great place to be!!
Ok as I mentioned my sermon for this Sunday is attached.
I have also attached lesson three for the book of Jonah which we are studying on Sunday mornings at 8:30AM for Adult Study.
Have a fantastic week ahead of you!
