I want to make something clear as we move into the fall. If you are ill or in the hospital we here at the office are not mind readers, we do not know these things. Unfortunately, people do get sick, they move or they walk away from the church, and they think that everyone knows. It is not the responsibility of your friends to tell us here at church what is going on in your life. We want to know so we are aware of your issue and or pray for you and yours.
As we return to every month newsletters if you have an announcement related to church or our community write and article and submit it to Carmen. Perhaps you are celebrating a milestone in your life write and article, we will review it and print it if appropriate.
Additionally, this month I wandered off the path a bit and wrote about how one becomes a “Saint” in the Roman and Greek Orthodox churches. I know that this is a bit off the beaten path of Lutheranism, but a worthy subjective to research. Certainly, this is not an exhaustive examination, but it will give you an idea of the process. We do not recognize “saints” per se in the Lutheran or Protestant churches, but we do refer to the Saints of Scripture and other early church patriarchs as Saints.
My point in saying all this is that if you have a topic that you may want me to research or write about let me know. I have dried up most of my subjects after 43 years nearly 430 from the Pastor articles and I am willing to take suggestions try to research if the topic is appropriate for such articles. I did some rough estimating and determined that I have written about 2435 sermons that I have preached in 43 years. This does not include weddings or funerals or other special occasions I have officiated at over the years.
Well hopefully you get my point by now.
